Planox® Multi Plate Friction Clutch

Planox® PM mechanically actuated

The mechanically actuated Planox® friction clutches, type PM, are characterized in particular by the spring contact-pressure of the friction element. Due to this spring pressure, the peak torques are cut off during the switch-on process. The core sizes of the standard models (marked in the brochure) can be delivered from stock. The Planox® clutch, type PM, is delivered as a shaft / shaft (PMW) or shaft / flange (PMF) model.

Torque range from 150 Nm to 6,100 Nm

Planox® PMA actuated mechanically, bell-shaped model

The bell-shaped model of the Planox® clutch coupling has been developed for attachment to diesel engines. The complete clutch, including the bearing, is installed in the clutch bell housing, which forms one unit with the engine after it is attached. The large-sized support of the drive shaft in the clutch casing permits the power to be output via flexible couplings, universal joints or belt drives.

Torque range from from 150 Nm to 6,150 Nm
Body connection SAE 6 to SAE 00
Flywheel connection 6“ to 18“

Planox® PP switched on pneumatically

In case of the pneumatically switched-on Planox® clutch, type PP, the compressed air is fed axially through the shaft into the ring cylinder, thereby determining the torque. The wear that occurs is automatically compensated over the piston stroke. Combined with flexible couplings, the PP type is especially suitable as a safety clutch for dual screw extruders in the plastic indurstry. These are ground in at our grind-in test stand especially produced for this application, and set there to the required slip torque.

Torque range from 150 Nm to 1,000,000 Nm

Planox® PPA actuated pneumatically, bell-shaped model

The pneumatically actuated Planox® clutch, model PPA, has the same function and mode of operation as model PP. Due to its bell-shaped housing, it is identical to model PMA with regard to dimensions, application and torque measurement, whereby the  power output is via the belt drives or similar drive elements.

Torque range from 150 Nm to 10,500 Nm
Body connection SAE 6 to SAE 00
Flywheel connection 6“ to 24“

Planox® PPR switched on pneumatically, radial air supply

The air feed of the pneumatically switched-on Planox® clutch, type PPR, is radial. The switching component, comprised of a cylinder and piston, runs on angular ball bearings and the required pressing force is transferred by these. The torque resulting from the friction of the angular ball bearings is absorbed to the foundation or the case by a torque plate. The wear that occurs is automatically compensated over the piston stroke.

Torque range from 180 Nm to 22,000 Nm

Planox® PPRA actuated pneumatically, bell-shaped model, radial air supply

The pneumatically actuated Planox® clutch, model PPRA, has the same function and mode of operation as model PPR. Due to its bell-shaped design, it is identical to model PMA with regard to dimensions, application and torque measurement.

Torque range from 150 Nm to 1,000 Nm
Body connection SAE 6 to SAE 00
Flywheel connection 6“ to 24“

Planox® PHA actuated hydraulically, bell-shaped model

With the hydraulically actuated Planox® clutch, type PHA, oil is fed axially though the shaft. The dimensions, applications and torque measurement of the PHA type clutch are identical to those of the PMA type, whereby the output power is  via the belt drives or comparable drive elements.

Torque range from 765 Nm bis 17,300 Nm
Body connection SAE 6 to SAE 00
Flywheel connection 8“ to 21“

Planox® PHRA hydraulically actuated, bell-shaped model, radial oil feed

The hydraulically actuated Planox® clutch, model PHRA, has the same function and mode of operation as model PPR. Due to its bell-shaped design, it is identical to model PMA with regard to dimensions, application and torque measurement.

Torque range from 765 Nm to 17,530 Nm
Body connection SAE 6 to SAE 00
Flywheel connection 8“ to 21“

Planox® PHRT switched off hydraulically

The hydraulically switched-off Planox® clutch, model PHRT, has the same function and mode of operation as model PPRT. The only difference is in the actuating component, due to the use of hydraulic-oil as the actuating medium.

Torque range from 1,100 Nm to 270,000 Nm

Planox® PT loaded by cup springs

A defined torque is generated due to the permanently pretensioned cup spring packs. If this preset torque is exceeded during operation, the Planox® clutch, type PT, slips through, thereby cutting off the torque peaks. The wear that occurs is automatically compensated by the cup spring packs.

Torque range from 1,320 Nm to 990,000 Nm

Planox® PPT switched off pneumatically

The Planox® clutch, type PPT, is switched off pneumatically and is based on the two design features of the PP and PT type clutches. A switching component similar to that installed in the PP type is attached to the extended clutch hub of the PT model. The compressed air is fed axially through the shaft. The axial force generated by this presses against the cup spring packs via the piston, thereby separating the parts within the frictional connection. The clutch is switched off. When depressurized, the clutch is switched on automatically by spring force. This means that when in operation, no actuating medium needs to be constantly present.

Torque range from 1,100 Nm to 825,000 Nm

Planox® PPRT switched off pneumatically

The Planox® clutch, type PPRT, is switched off pneumatically and is based on the two design features of the PPR and PT type clutches. The compressed air is fed radially from the outside into the ring cylinder thereby opening the clutch. The torque is applied via spring force and switched off with compressed air.

Torque range from 1,100 Nm to 270,000 Nm
